The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) announced that the completed Savanda and Yukarı Kızılca ponds will be irrigated for the first time in the summer of 2019, and 4,820 decares of land will meet with life water. It was pointed out that these projects will bring an average of 5 million lira more to Kemalpaşa producers every year.The irrigation and pond constructions of Savanda and Yukarıkızılca ponds, which Kemalpaşa farmers have been waiting for a long time, have been completed. This summer, a total of 4,820 decares of land will be opened to modern irrigation for the first time. In addition, the Nature Park established by Kemalpaşa Municipality on the shore of Savanda Pond will be a new place of peace for Izmir residents. Savanda Pond, built on Savanda Creek near Nazarköy, will irrigate 1,630 decares of land. Emphasizing that the body height of the Savanda Pond is 22.5 meters from the foundation and can hold 1.25 million m3 of water, State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) General Director Mevlüt Aydın said, “The water accumulated in the Savanda Pond, one of the exemplary projects of DSİ in Izmir, will be given to the fields by prepaid electronic meter method. Producers will pay for as much water as they use. The contribution of the project to the regional economy is targeted at approximately 2 million liras.” Stating that Kemalpaşa Yukarıkızılca Pond, which will provide life water to 3,190 decares of land, was built on the Karagöl Stream near Yukarıkızılca Neighborhood, General Manager Aydın said, ”The body height of the pond, whose body is made of clay-core zoned soil filling, is 22 meters from the foundation and has a water retention volume of 1 million 970 thousand m3. In the irrigation works of the project, which cost approximately 10 million liras, 11 thousand 637 meters of pipes were laid. With the completion of the irrigation construction, irrigated agriculture in the region will increase the yield in the fields and provide product diversity in the region. With the project, we aim to provide 3 million 37 thousand liras of additional income to the regional economy every year with 2018 figures.” Aydın thanked those who contributed to this project and stated that they will continue to invest in Izmir, the pearl of the Aegean Sea, in the future.
